  Chloroplasts are small elongated or disc-shaped organelles found in plant cells and eukaryotic algae which contain chlorophyll and carries out photosynthesis (in which energy from sunlight is converted into chemical energy, food and oxygen)  
     
They are found mainly in the green part of plants like leaves and young stems.
