M. bocasana var. multilanata  forma cristata
This  plant has long white furry hairs and very few (if not any) central hooked spines.
 

Description: Blue-green stems with white woolly hairy spines 
Spines: Radials 50-100, white, hairlike, 8 - 20 mm long, with very few short hooked centrals , reddish brown, 5 - 10 mm  long.

Scientific Name: Mammillaria bocasana multilanata forma cristata Hort (This is an horticultural name)

Common Names include: Powder Puff Cactus snowball cactus; powderpuff cactus; fishhooks.

Origin: Garden origin (Nursery produced cultivar)
 



 

 


Cultivation:
It is a  rapid growing crest that does very well on its own roots. Water regularly in summer, but do not overwater (very rot prone) Use pot with good drainage and a very porous potting media, keep dry in winter. Feed with a high potassium fertilizer in summer. It is quite frost resistant if kept dry, hardy as low as -5 C.  Outside full sun or afternoon shade; inside it needs bright light, and some direct sun. A big clump can be produced in a very few years.


Propagation: Division of larger clumps in spring or summer.
